Let’s face it, some days it may not feel like God is love. For some of you, you may not even believe in God or believe His words written in the pages of my favorite book, The Bible. Deep down inside we all desire and seek truth. Why is it so easy to believe some complicated things as truth and deny what is written down for us as real truth?
Just this week we all were reminded that many times our sources for truth, like the news, can be discredited and proven to be false hope. As we watch pain and suffering, it is so hard to fully believe that God is love. The key element of faith is to realize we don’t view things with the same lens that God does. God is so much bigger than we are and His ways are not our ways. (Isaiah 55:8) It is arrogant of us to think that we know better than the one who created the heavens, this earth and hell. On some of our strongest days, we can never come close to the power of God.
“For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16
We were not created for our own pleasure and luxury. We were created by Him and for Him. The selfish side of us wants the instant gratification and we want it to be all about us. In the moments when we totally let go of our selfishness, God rushes in and loves on others through us. Have you ever been a part of loving on someone else? Have you ever made a stranger’s day? Have you ever witnessed goodness and kindness as it serves others. It is a feeling that causes our hearts to be full and to overflow. That is LOVE and that is the Creator who demonstrated incredible love for us. 1 John 4:19 says, “we love because He first loved us.”
When a child dies, it hurts deep. BUT, when God loves, He saves the lives of many through the story of that young child.
When divorce opens the door for deep brokenness, it seems unfair. BUT, when God loves, He allows that experience to help us relate to pain for others and bring words of needed healing.
I watched the tears of a young couple last week after sharing one sentence from my story. Anger towards God was suddenly gone and the words from a young husband, “I am free now” made my past hurt all worthwhile. Healing took place through a few simple words and God loved!
Take a chance and trust God. It’s ok to let Him love you and love through you!
